What will you learn? In this 60 minute session you will learn about the different types of hearing loss. This will include how to communicate and interact with people who are deaf or hard of hearing, plus the differences between hearing and deaf cultures.
How is it hosted? The workshop is hosted virtually via Zoom by one of our experienced teachers who is a profoundly deaf native BSL user.

What will you learn?
Our Deaf Awareness Workshop aims to raise your awareness of different types of hearing loss
It will provide you with communication tactics and best practice when interacting with deaf people in a fun and informative way
It will give you an insight into the differences in communication needs according to a person’s type of deafness
You will learn about British Sign Language vs English and the differences between hearing and deaf cultures
Most importantly you will learn some strategies for communicating with people who are deaf or hard of hearing
Who will lead the session?
Your hosts are experienced teachers from the Manchester Deaf Centre. They have years of experience in training BSL (British Sign Language).
We recommend having maximum 20 guests within the workshop in order to have a discussion with your host and even learn some sign.
However, this workshop can be hosted for larger groups but it becomes more of a seminar styled format due to the large audience.

What? Gain an insight into this rich and beautiful visual language. You can also choose to book 5 sessions for your team to develop their learning over a few weeks.
What does it entail? You will learn the basics of introducing yourself, spelling your name and other greetings. We have a maximum group size of 10 pax so that our instructor can see all participants. If you have a larger group, we can run multiple workshops for you.

How much is it? £300 + VAT for a maximum of 10 pax. £600 + VAT for 5 sessions.
